Phoenix Dentist Introduces Handheld Digital X-Rays Tool

PHOENIX, AZ – --(Marketwired - February 26, 2016) - Dr. Tim Anastassatos, a talented Phoenix general dentist, has implemented a new handheld tool in his dental practice that allows staff members to easily render digital X-rays.

The digital X-ray unit, which has the appearance of a camera, is mobile and can be carried from operatory to operatory. The digital images load onto the computer screen immediately, so there is no waiting for images to develop.

"The advantage of the handheld digital X-ray unit is that we can use it efficiently and patients aren't intimidated by a bulky machine," said Dr. Tim Anastassatos, who operates Healthy Smiles. "The digital X-rays are safe and give us accurate views to diagnose and plan out dental treatments."

Digital X-rays are one of the most effective ways to diagnose dental issues like tooth decay and root problems. Typical digital X-ray machines emit only about 10 percent of the radiation of traditional X-rays, and patients no longer have to stick film in their mouths during the X-ray. The new handheld device emits the lowest amount of radiation currently being used by dental offices.

Dr. Anastassatos said digital X-rays are more convenient than traditional X-rays, provide a better picture and are safer for patients of all ages. The office began using the digital X-ray unit earlier this year, and Dr. Anastassatos said patients remark how quickly and comfortably the dental team can take X-rays.

"For such a small device, it gives us a great view of the patient's teeth and oral cavity, and we don't have to worry about moving the patient around from room to room," Dr. Anastassatos said. "Most importantly, it's a safe system that increases our patients' comfort and overall quality of care."

Healthy Smiles has two dental locations -- in Ahwatukee and Arcadia. Healthy Smiles' main office -- 4350 E. Ray Rd., Bldg. 5, Ste. 122 -- is a 1,800-square-foot dental office equipped with the latest technology in dentistry. The second Healthy Smiles location is at 3409 N. 56th St., Ste. A.

Dr. Anastassatos works with patients of all ages to help them achieve a healthy smile. Dr. Anastassatos and his staff complete more than the number of continuing education hours required by the state. Healthy Smiles' locations provide patients quality in-office teeth-whitening treatments, sleep apnea treatment, root canals, wisdom tooth removal, Invisalign, TMJ treatment and oral surgery.

Dr. Anastassatos earned his undergraduate degree from Arizona State University and then his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Anastassatos served in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm and was stationed in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona and Korea. Dr. Anastassatos worked for a group practice for 12 years before establishing Healthy Smiles.

Dr. Anastassatos holds professional memberships with the Arizona Dental Association, the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. He sponsors the organization Compassion Queen Creek, Ingleside Middle School, Arcadia High School and Desert Vista High School. He also supports veteran organizations.
